Vestibular Rehabilitation For Dizziness

What is the Vestibular System

The vestibular system is an organ within the inner ear that acts as your brain's internal compass. It is an essential part of your body's ability to stay balanced. It provides information on where your head is in space as well as coordinates your eye movements with your head movements.

Common Symptoms of a Vestibular Condition

Imbalance or Unsteadiness

Vertigo (spinning sensation)

Dizziness (Light-headed, floating, or rocking sensation)

Blurred or bouncing vision

Motion sickness

And more

Who Would Benefit from Vestibular Rehab?

Do you experience dizziness when you move your head or neck? Does lying down, rolling over in bed, or looking up cause you to feel dizziness or spinning? If you answered yes to either of these questions then vestibular rehabilitation can help you.

What Does a Physical Therapist Do For Dizziness?

Vestibular rehabilitation can assess and successfully treat and improve symptoms of dizziness, vertigo, and imbalance. Individualized care with the prescription of head-eye coordinated exercises and balance re-training can reduce dizziness and improve balance. At Labyrinth Physical Therapy & Wellness we can provide you with a better understanding of your condition, educate you on how to manage it, and provide exercises to improve it. We can preform an evaluation before you see your doctor. Information from our evaluation can then help assist your doctor with their clinical evaluation and care of your dizziness.
